Biography
Alistair Makinson was born in 1961 in Whalley, Lancashire and whilst growing up was not expecting to become an artist.It wasn’t until he broke his elbow that he began to paint whilst recuperating and found to his delight he had a talent and very much enjoyed painting. His first few exhibitions were so well received by the public that he turned professional in 1991 after only a year of painting.Painting at first landscapes, in 1996 he concentrated on sporting art compositions – finding the subject not only more challenging but more enjoyable to paint. He has become one of Britain’s foremost sporting and landscape artists, with his realistic portrayals of fishing, shooting and the British landscape, his work is hugely desirable and much sought after by collectors worldwide. He exhibits with the leading sporting and wildlife galleries in the UK and has had many successful one man exhibitions.He still lives and works in the Ribble Valley where he finds many sources of inspiration
