Biography
Robin Armstrong, born in 1947, has been painting Wildlife since he sold his first picture of a Prairie Falcon at the age of 13.He joined Phoenix Studios in 1966 as a trainee illustrator and whilst there attended the London School of Printing.Frequent exhibitions in both London and in the West Country have brought his unique style to the attention of collectors from Europe, the United States and Canada.Robin attributes much of his development as an artist to the opportunity he has had to travel in Europe, America and in exotic locations such as the high Arctic and Spitzbergen where he accompanied Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.Painting in oil has added another facet to his work and some of these pictures are featured in his book "Dartmoor River" published by Halsgrove in 2002.He is theauthor of six books about life as an artist, angler and naturalist.Although wildlife and landscape still provide most of the inspiration for his work.Robin's first love remains in the realms of the angling world and the fish so sought after by the millions of anglers across the globe.He was Artist in Residence at the National Marine Aquarium at Plymouth from 1998 – 99.
