Biography |
|
Born in 1966, David Miller studied art at the Carmarthenshire College of Technology and Art. On leaving college in 1988, he started work as a freelance illustrator. He has illustrated work for a variety of clients including the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, Chessington and Chester Zoos, Hamlyn Publishers and various magazines. David is a keen naturalist and travels widely in pursuit of his subject matter. Because he likes to paint the wildlife he portrays in its natural habitat, when painting his underwater pictures, the first stage is to observe the fish by scuba diving. This takes him right into the environment of the species rather than just trying to image an underwater scene. Brilliantly capturing movement and grace, combined with accurate representation, his reputation has, therefore, grown both nationally and internationally with his originals hanging in boardrooms in New York, London and Tokyo. He has exhibited nationally at the Society of Wildlife Artists Annual Exhibition, Tryon & Swann, London, in Scotland at the McEwan Gallery in Ballater and Nigel Stacy-Marks in Perth, and has been Artist in Residence at Nature in Art, Gloucester on four occasions. ‘Beneath the Surface’ by David Miller, illustrating his paintings and working methods was published April 2007 by Langford Press. |
